Small Businesses Recovering with the Aid of Internet

According to a recent survey by business internet service provider Easynet Connect, more than half of the small to medium enterprises, also known as SMEs, are not hopeful about being able to register growth this year.

The survey conducted on more than 250 core IT companies in the SME category focussed upon issues such as impact of the IT on SMEs in the light of the economic downturn. It was found that around 38% of the respondents were diverting their attention to the IT sector.

Many companies these days assert that internet plays an indispensable role in their everyday business activities. The study also brought forth that more than 80% of the SMEs cannot cope without internet even for a day. While 48% said they could not manage without internet for more than an hour, 14% claimed that they could not do without internet even for an hour.

Internet has become so important for businesses (see best business broadband) that around 80% of them claimed that it has saved them from the worst during recession. They conclude that it has played a huge role in the recovery of their business in the aftermath of the recession. Internet has made it a lot easier for companies to recover than during the last recession.

The MD of Easynet opined that SMEs could also gain a lot from fibre broadband that would prove to be more suitable for SMEs given its high speeds.
