So how about some geography before we get going? The group of sixteen small settlements skiers know and love as “Chamonix” is found on the northwest side of the Alps. It is well known and much visited with mountaineers and skiers. Being located close to the impressive mountains of the Aiguilles Rouges and Mont Blanc, it’s the ideal ski vacation for hobbyists and sportsmen alike. Mont Blanc wears the title of the the third most visited natural site worldwide, and although not every visitor is a ski hobbyist, no one else enjoys their visit more than the skier. It’s rare to find the various appropriate slopes and snow types for the extreme sports, but Chamonix is somewhere that extreme sports aficionados on vacation can rely on finding somewhere to do any extreme sports. For less energetic visitors ski trails are common, providing wonderful prospects and accessible by cable car. But, it’s not necessary to have an expert’s understanding to enjoy yourself during your stay at the resort. Slopes, trails, and runs for beginners and casual participants are in regular use. You’ll find no choice better for a sporting family break than a luxury catered chalet. Ski during the winter, walk the Alps in summertime – there’s never a moment’s boredom in the area, no matter the season that you’re here for your vacation. Should you be a tourist rather than a sports fan, you’ll still have lots to pass the time with in the alps with the views, historical points of interest, and the local shopping, all this among a friendly local populace. With transfer from Geneva Chamonix is a short flight away and once you’re there it will be dead simple to put together exactly the right combination of accomodation and sports, which makes it a no-brainer to get that very special getaway.
