Businesses Realizing the Utility of Mobile Broadband
Increasing number of businesses are slowly recognising the need and efficacy of mobile broadband, especially given the sheer choice that is available in HSPA Mobile Broadband. According to GSMA CMO Michael O’Hara, this change in attitude of businesses towards mobile technology is largely due to the need to improve and augment their businesses in the competitive market.
GSM Association, which represents the interests of the worldwide mobile communications industry and has over 800 mobile operators worldwide as its members, has recently conducted a survey spanning thousands of businesses in the USA, Europe and the Asia Pacific region and has arrived at some startling revelations. The survey revealed that more than 70 percent of the companies provide mobile broadband or remote internet access to their employees, including laptops and the like, and the percentage of employees in a company who receive mobile broadband facility amounts to 12.3%.
Companies, despite understanding the need for mobility, tend to spend on remote internet technology only to provide top directors with such facilities. It is seen that nearly 60 percent of the employers provide such access to its directors and managers while not even 40 percent provide such access to their sales staff.
The survey clearly shows that very soon, maybe by the next year itself, companies will double the expenditure they are making on mobile technology. Mobile broadband along with other forms of Wi-Fi access will receive a major boost from such investment.
