Bingo Bonanaza, with its partnering groups and advertisers spent a good 120,000 USD for the event. From the early campaigns to get global participants, the tournament organizers devised innovative strategies to prepare for an exciting and peaceful event.

It was well noted that the tournament was dominated by the Chinese delegates. Out of the six championship games, five were bagged by the Chinese contenders. The women’s singles, mixed doubles and women’s doubles were triumphed by their women representatives including Hong Kong’s Zhou Mi, who holds the current world’s No. 1 title. The Chinese group also took the men’s singles title. Only the double’s title in the men’s category was left for the other nations to grab.

In the women’s singles, Wang Xin breezed through the three sets that she needed to claim the title. The match ended with a 21-10, 12-21 and 23-21 tally. Wang exhibited a thrilling game that won her the 9,000 USD prize. Wang worked her way through qualifying for the tournament. She was among those luckily drawn after her win in the Want Shixian semi-finals round over Canada’s Charmaine Reid. The match, that lasted for sixteen rounds, showed why Wang deserved the consequent title in the Philippines open.

There are also other competitive players who displayed their skills in the tournament. Indonesia brought a powerhouse team composed of Mohhamad Ahsan-Bona Septano and Alvent Chandra.

Tournament organizers expressed their pride in the great turnout of the event. For next year, they admit that they would like to see more Filipino players grabbing some of the medals too.
